Darings off Cowes.jpg - SOLD - The Daring was designed by Arthur Robb and was first launched in 1960. Robb based the design of this elegant boat on his successful 5.5. metre yacht which had won silver at the 1956 Olympics in Australia. The Daring is unique to Cowes and there are currently over 30 boats in the fleet. The Daring class has strict one design rules, including a sail replacement programme, whereby owners can only purchase new sails at specific times, and a hull scrubbing programme, allowing the boats, which are kept afloat, to only be cleaned once every two weeks throughout the racing season. These rules not only ensure that crews are competing in identical boats, but also that owners cannot pour money into their Daring in a bid to win races.
