Cowes - Kitty at Lallow's Yard.jpg - FOR SALE- This is the old Thames sailing barge Kitty on the Clare Lallow Boatyard slipway. She was built in 1895 by J & H Cann of Harwich to carry cargoes of grain in the North Sea. She has a star painted on her topsail which is the original owner's logo (J Horlocks) which was used to identify ships at long distances. Having undergone major annual refurbishments her gleaming wood and brass confirms the widely-held opinion that Sailing Barge Kitty is now considered to be one of the finest barges currently available for charter. Nowadays vessels are pulled up the slipway using and electric winch, but in the old days a horse pwered capatain was used.
